13 Ways To Keep Yourself Busy While At Home

Before the idea of social distancing became a real thing, the thought of having time off to spend at home sounded like a dream. Spring has begun and the flowers are in bloom but we are faced with the fact we can’t venture too far from home to enjoy it.  Many of us have already binge watched everything we could possibly think of on Netflix, Hulu, Disney + and Amazon Prime and now we need some other ideas of things to do. I have put together a list of 13 ways to keep yourself busy.

1 Have a game night
Nothing bring people together like playing board games, video games or trivia games.

Family Friendly
Adult Party Games

Download fun game or puzzle apps (besides Candy Crush).

Family Feud Live
Rubik’s Cube
The Price Is Right

2 Start an online journal or blog
This is a great time to reach inward and start logging your experiences and growth. It’s also a way to express your emotions in a healthy, more private way.

3 Get Musical
Dust off that old instrument and practice or buy a keyboard or guitar and teach yourself to play.

Online Music Lessons

Become a Rockstar in your own living room
Sing karaoke

4 Ignite your creativity
Write poetry or a song, paint, draw, download a coloring book app.

5 Learn a foreign language
May as well use this free time to brush up on your Spanish or learn Italian or French. Then when you can finally plan that trip to Europe you will be able to interact with the locals.

6 Try Or Create New Recipes & Baking
We all have recipes we’ve held onto but never actually had the time (or courage) to use. It can also be fun to look at what you have in your pantry and refrigerator then challenge yourself to come up with something creative. Involve the whole family and even make it fun by recording a video or going live as if you have your own cooking show.

7 Spring cleaning and decluttering
Spring has officially begun and we are all of our time at home right now. Involve the whole family and if everyone does their part you will not only come out of this with the most organized and clean house you’ve ever lived in but you may even find some items you thought you lost or had forgotten about.

8 Reach Out
We are so lucky to have the internet and social media especially right now. While we are staying home it doesn’t mean we can’t connect with friends and re-connect with old ones.

Facebook Messenger

9 Exercise at home
Just because the gym is closed doesn’t mean you have to forgo your workout routine, it just means you can find new ways to do it. Download a fitness app or find an at-home Yoga or aerobics video on YouTube.

10 Set new goals
Everything may seem like it’s on pause but eventually life will be back to normal and possibly busier than before. Writing down your goals and doing one thing a day to work towards achieving them can keep things in perspective. Meanwhile you will be that much closer to what you want to accomplish.
