A Room for Virtual Reality

A recent article in the Wall Street Journal explored fresh ideas in home design, among them the need for immersive rooms for virtual gamers to do their thing without stubbing their toes on their coffee tables.

Some high-end homes are incorporating virtual reality rooms reminiscent of holodecks on a Star Trek series.  These include padded walls to protect gamers from hurting themselves as they put on headsets and wander in digital realms.  Some have surround-sound speakers and vibration sensors in the floors to enhance the virtual experience.
